Community and School Gardens Committee

• Open public parks or city-owned property for community gardens
  • Find locations for at least three gardens
  • Create neighborhood groups for new gardens
• Develop school food garden initiatives at each school in the Kingston City School District 
  •  9 of 14 schools in the first year
• Develop community garden initiatives at selected area non-profits (churches, subsidized housing, community centers, etc.)
• Increase capacity in Kingston neighborhoods to process, store, and distribute local produce.
• Provide local produce within a walkable distance of the people who have limited access
  • Neighborhood farmers’ markets
  • Midtown greenhouse
