| Mark DeDea | Kingston Tree Commission – The Recreation Office oversees all activities of the Commission including and annual street tree planting program for businesses and residents, the Annual Arbor Ceremony which is partnered with the school district, and sponsoring the NYS Arbor Day Poster Contest for all fifth grade students in Kingston. In addition, workshops are conducted for residents in skills such as basic pruning activities and we oversee other projects to promote urban forestry, i.e.- City Tree Nursery, Development of a Nature Trail, Restoration of Pine Grove Avenue median. The City has been designated as a “Tree City USA” for 7 years straight, and we have been given awards for work undertaken in 6 of those years. |
