Open Call for Art for Hispanic Heritage Exhibition at City Hall
KINGSTON, NY – Mayor Steven T. Noble and the Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Latin Outreach, Unity and Development (L.O.U.D), are pleased to announce an open call for artwork for inclusion in a multidisciplinary exhibition celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at City Hall.
The multidisciplinary exhibition, themed, “Nuestros Sueños, Nuestro Legado - Our Dreams, Our Legacy,” will be reflective of Kingston’s and America’s Hispanic/Latino resilience, traditions, heritage, and accomplishments.
Selected artwork will be on display at the City Hall Ground Floor Gallery from September 15, 2026, through late winter 2027.
Mayor Noble said, “We are honored to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans with this special exhibition at City Hall. I want to thank Kingston Arts Commissioner Cesar Castro for curating this historic show along with Alessandra Gonzalez and the team at L.O.U.D. and for helping us continue creating a more inclusive narrative of our history through art.”
Local artists are invited to submit artworks in response to the “Nuestros Sueños, Nuestro Legado - Our Dreams, Our Legacy” theme through painting, photography, drawing, and mixed media. The exhibition is open to all ages, to foster a multigenerational dialogue of Hispanic culture, heritage, and artistic spirit.
L.O.U.D. Chief Operating Officer Alessandra Gonzalez said, “Creating spaces where the Latino community feels seen, heard, safe, and celebrated has always been deeply important to me. I’m incredibly grateful to the City of Kingston, Mayor Steve Noble, and Kitt Potter, Director of the Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs, for believing in this vision and continuing to collaborate with L.O.U.D. to uplift our community. Sharing our stories, traditions, and identities through art in public spaces like City Hall allows our culture to be honored and preserved while building bridges of understanding across our community. Through the arts, we can connect, educate, and unite in ways that transcend language and differences. This exhibition is an opportunity for our Latino community to celebrate the beauty, diversity, resilience, and dreams that are woven into the fabric of who we are.”
The exhibition will be part of the City’s “250 Years of America’s Voices” series, to celebrate the rich legacy of Hispanic culture, heritage, and identity in America’s history.
City of Kingston Director of Arts & Cultural Affairs Kitt Potter said, “By bringing together the creative voices of Hispanic/Latino artists of all ages, we seek to honor the enduring traditions of the past while highlighting the dynamic cultural contributions of the present. We invite our local artists to explore their ancestral roots and reflections of community, and we encourage artists of all levels to interpret this theme in a way that lets the Hispanic/Latino culture in Kingston shine.”
Submissions can be sent via the online application or by downloading the pdf application and delivering in person/by mail to Latin Outreach Unity & Development Office, 70 Lindsley Ave, Kingston, NY, 12401 by July 6, 2026, at 4:30pm.
Submissions should include the following to be considered:
- Image of the work
- A short bio and contact information (150-word count)
- A brief description of how the work reflects the theme (300-word count)

Artists whose works have been selected for the exhibition will be notified by August 17, 2026. Selected artworks must be delivered to City Hall at 420 Broadway by August 28, 2026, at 4:30pm. The exhibition opening reception will be held at City Hall on September 15, 2026.

LA CIUDAD DE KINGSTON ANUNCIA UNA CONVOCATORIA DE ARTE PARA UNA EXPOSICIÓN ESPECIAL DE HERENCIA HISPANA
KINGSTON, NY – El alcalde Steven T. Noble y el Departamento de Artes y Asuntos Culturales, en asociación con Latin Outreach, Unity and Development (L.O.U.D.), se complacen en anunciar una convocatoria abierta de obras de arte para ser incluidas en una exhibición multidisciplinaria en celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana en la Alcaldía.
La exposición multidisciplinaria, bajo el lema 'Nuestros Sueños, Nuestro Legado', reflejará la resiliencia, tradiciones, herencia y logros de la comunidad hispana y latina de Kingston y de América. Las obras seleccionadas se exhibirán en la Galería en el primer piso de la Alcaldía desde el 15 de septiembre de 2026 hasta finales del invierno de 2027.
El alcalde Noble expresó: ‘Es un honor para nosotros celebrar las extraordinarias contribuciones de los hispanos y latinoamericanos con esta exposición especial en la Alcaldía. Quiero agradecer al Comisionado de Artes de Kingston, Cesar Castro, por la curaduría de esta muestra histórica junto a Alessandra González y el equipo de L.O.U.D., y por ayudarnos a seguir creando una narrativa más inclusiva de nuestra historia a través del arte.’
Se invita a los artistas locales a presentar obras que respondan al tema 'Nuestros Sueños, Nuestro Legado' a través de la pintura, la fotografía, el dibujo y medios mixtos. La exposición está abierta para todas las edades, con el fin de fomentar un diálogo generacional sobre la cultura, la herencia y el espíritu artístico hispano.
La Directora de Operaciones de L.O.U.D., Alessandra González, expresó, ‘Crear espacios donde la comunidad latina se sienta vista, escuchada, segura y celebrada siempre ha sido importante para mí. Compartir nuestras historias, tradiciones e identidades a través del arte en espacios públicos como el Ayuntamiento permite que nuestra cultura sea honrada y preservada, al mismo tiempo que construye puentes de entendimiento entre nuestra comunidad. A través de las artes, podemos conectar, educar y unirnos de maneras que trascienden el lenguaje y las diferencias. La exposición formará parte de la serie de la Ciudad ‘250 Years of America's Voices’, para celebrar el valioso legado de la cultura, la herencia y la identidad hispana en la historia de los Estados Unidos.
La Directora de Asuntos Artísticos y Culturales de la Ciudad de Kingston, Kitt Potter, expresó “Al reunir las voces creativas de artistas hispanos y latinos de todas las edades, buscamos honrar las tradiciones perdurables del pasado, al tiempo que destacamos las dinámicas contribuciones culturales del presente. Invitamos a nuestros artistas locales a explorar sus raíces ancestrales y sus reflexiones sobre la comunidad, y animamos a artistas de todos los niveles a interpretar este tema de una manera que permita brillar a la cultura hispana en Kingston.”.
Las propuestas pueden enviarse a través de la solicitud en línea o descargando el formulario en PDF y entregándolo en persona o por correo a la Oficina de Latin Outreach Unity & Development, 70 Lindsley Ave, Kingston NY 12401, antes de la fecha límite: 6 de julio de 2026, a las 4:30 p.m.
