The City of Kingston is participating with stakeholders and partners on Kingston's waterfront to improve the resiliency and sustainability of the shoreline, implement an economic development strategy, and develop better access to the river, parks and open space on the waterfront for people on foot, on bicycle, and in boats. Many plans for the waterfront have been developed, and it's Kingston time to implement some of the excellent ideas generated by the community and planners over the years. Several grants have been secured to implement elements of these plans. Both plans and projects are listed below on this webpage. Click to explore all that is in store for the waterfront!
Furthermore, the City is supportive of the new Rondout Riverport Community Coalition (RRCC) facilitated by the Hudson River Maritime Museum. The draft mission of the RRCC is to develop and promote the historic Rondout waterfront area through an organized effort as a destination for tourist to visit and stay and as an attractive, thriving neighborhood to live and work in. The draft vision is that the RRCC seeks to enhance and revitalize the historic Rondout waterfront area by identifying innovative opportunities and working through collaborative partnerships to build and maintain a vibrant and sustainable district within the City of Kingston. Membership in the RRCC is open to all people with an interest in the Rondout-West Strand Historic District, the Kingston Point Park area, and the Ponckhockie neighborhood. To join the RRCC, please send an email to email@example.com for more information.
